I know. And it's not just contrarian. Really, it's not. A little bit to whet your appetite:
I'll agree with James on this. The NFP model isn't for everybody.
But the mistake isn't the model, it's the misunderstanding of what the model is for.
Yeah, I'm gonna say it...RTWT.

To be honest, the way you put it, I very much agree. Not every company should be built for longevity, but for the ones that are, the 501(c)3 might just be the way to go. But the danger is that trend toward conservatism. Even though that's part of any long-term business' life. If you go into getting a 501(c)3 knowing that you're building for the long haul, you can figure out ways to allay the lean to the safe.
