Like, Totally Awesome
This does triple duty for me. A) It obliquely allows me to pay some tribute to the latest dearly departed, B) Ta-Nehisi has some pretty great things to say about the portrayals of race, and C) I get to highlight a blogger that's new to me but saying some good things. So H/T Culturefuture.

I can't tell if that article is pro Clueless or anti Clueless.
I love Clueless. I also love the tragically under appreciated Can't Hardly Wait. Both have strong black characters in them. So did The Craft, actually, with Rachel True as one of its four leads.
Yay! The 90's!
Also, it wasn't a hit or anything, but it was a teen favorite of mine: Girls Town.

God, I love that movie. I haven't seen it in years.
I too love Clueless, though I'm more agnostic on Can't Hardly Wait (I was a little long in the tooth for teen comedies when it came out). I think I made a point about this once, but it seems like, especially in the 90s, TV and film did a better job of integrating than the real world does. *Sigh*
